In our continuing effort to assure that all people in the ten-county Lake Cumberland area have access to adequate basics of food, shelter, health care, and a sustaining income, LCCAA continually strives to implement and enhance services.
This publication has been prepared to provide an overview of the programs and services that are provided by LCCAA. The reader will notice that an emphasis is placed on helping people help themselves as opposed to perpetuating their dependence on assistance programs.
Most of the households that utilize LCCAA services are at-risk, with most falling under the federal poverty level. Employment opportunity is the obvious answer to help those households that have the potential to achieve their goal of self-sufficiency.
There is not a simple solution to remedy the large-scale unemployment and under-employment facing our area. For this reason LCCAA provides a comprehensive mix of services and programs and also works closely with other agencies and programs that share our mission.
As we enter the new millennium, we have renewed our commitment to achieve the full measure of “Helping People Help Themselves.” On behalf of the LCCAA Board of Directors and administrative staff, I would like to thank all our partners, our 1,500-plus volunteers and friends for helping us mobilize resources to assist the less-fortunate.
Sincerely,
Bruce B. Brown
Executive Director
