Happiness and Opportunity through Marriage Education

Happiness and Opportunity through Marriage Education (H.O.M.E. Program) delivers quality services to prevent relationship difficulties and encourage future healthy marriages. Our overall goal is to develop a sustainable healthy marriage initiative within the Lake Cumberland Region. LCCAA was one (1) of twenty-four (24) grantees in the United States awarded a U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office of Head Start Healthy Marriage Initiative grant.

The H.O.M.E. program offers the following four programs:

• Within Our Reach® - 16-hour workshop for married or cohabitating couples. This workshop is designed to build on existing strengths in a relationship and add critical relationship and communication skills.

• Within My Reach® - 16-hour workshop for single parents. This workshop provides relationship and decision-making skills and explores the role of a relationship in everyday life and offers critical communication skills.

• Foundations in Personal Finance® - 8-hour workshop that follows the concepts of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU). This is a common sense money management program that teaches parents how to make a cash flow plan, how to develop a cash envelope system and how to pay off debt.

• 1-2-3 Magic Parenting® - 8-hour program that is easy to learn and teaches parents to enjoy their children, build stronger relationships with them and discipline them as needed with firmness, kindness and calmness.

All services are provided free of charge. In addition to free childcare and free meals during the workshops, each eligible participant will receive a $25 gift card and a $10 gas card for each eight hours of participation. Eligibility requirements are being a parent of a child age 0-5 years old (including expectant parents) and being at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.
