Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
LIHEAP is available to assist low-income households with home energy costs.
| The Subsidy Component begins in early November and runs approximately five to six weeks. Applications are taken alphabetically by last name of head of household. Eligibility and benefit amount are based on income and type of fuel source. Clients do not have to be out of fuel or receive a notice of disconnection to qualify. | |

The Crisis Component begins in early January and continues through mid-March or until available funds are expended. The home must be within four days of depletion of its energy source. The amount necessary to alleviate the crisis will be provided up to a maximum benefit. Occasionally monies are appropriated for Summer Cooling and LCCAA administers the program. |
